National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP)
Donating bone marrow is typically a simple procedure that can save the lives of individuals with leukemia and other fatal blood disorders. Minorities, especially South Asians, are severely under-represented in the bone marrow donor registry. South Asian bone marrow patients have low chances of finding a donor match–1 in 20,000 as compared to 8 in 10 for Caucasians.
