The Process

The first step in starting a chapter is contacting Iota Nu Delta Fraternity, Inc. and your university fraternity/sorority adviser. After approval from both parties, you may begin gathering an Interest Group–men with the desire and the credentials to build an organization on your campus. After these men complete the New Member Education program and become brothers of Iota Nu Delta, they will be known as a Colony. On your campus, a colony functions as a chapter does–holding events, serving the community, and recruiting new members. All chapters start out as colonies in the first few years. After a colony reaches certain milestones for long-term sustainability, they will be awarded full lettered chapter status.

In addition to your alumni adviser and big brothers, your Regional Governor will always be there to provide close contact and guidance. Further, our National Director of Colony Advancement will put you on the fast-track to success. He will also introduce you to the resources that Iota Nu Delta provides–such as leadership workshops to help manage your organization, marketing tools to help promote on campus, and grants to help you host large scale special events.
