Iota Nu Delta would like to highlight the accomplishments of our alumnus, Dr. Chetan Pasrija. Dr. Pasrija matched into the Cardiothoracic Surgical Residency Program, one of the most competitive types of residencies in all of medicine, at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He is currently in his third year, out of eight, in his training to become a heart surgeon.
Dr. Pasrija graduated with a degree in Bioengineering from our Eta Chapter at the University of Maryland at College Park, where he served as Chapter President from 2008 to 2009. He would go on to obtain his M.D. from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Pasrija also has extensive experience in research, being awarded by the University of Maryland with an Outstanding Research Award during his time in undergrad, as well as an Excellence in Research Award during his time in medical school. Dr. Pasrija also has conducted first author presentations at over ten major national conferences and has fourteen scientific papers that have been published or are in-press.
“In my opinion, Iota Nu Delta provides a perfect platform to teach young motivated men important attributes of success. Through my experiences with Iota Nu Delta, I learned important skills on how to push past mental stumbling blocks in order to reach my goals. The bond that I was able to create with my community of brothers both at my school and nationwide have been a critical support group for me through the years. Both the lessons and relationships I gained through Iota Nu Delta have helped me achieve the success that I have thus far.”
