I joined Iota Nu Delta because of the close bond that the brothers have with one another, not just at one school but across the country. With INΔ very new on campus at the time, we had the opportunity to build the organization for years to come. Very quickly, Iota Nu Delta gave me the opportunity to make an impact both on my campus and in the national organization.
For as long as I can remember I had quite the stereotypical perception of Greek Life. I never really considered myself to be fit for the Greek lifestyle until the day that I was enlightened about Iota Nu Delta. As I sat there in the informational, I was blown away by the conviction and power and immense truth accompanying the Brothers’ words. Everything that I had been looking for, apparently unbeknownst to me at the time, was right there in front of me…a family, a challenge, a goal, and a Brotherhood. So without alcohol thrown in my face, without any type of convincing, I was hooked, I was reeled in, and it was the best thing that happened to me.
When considering INΔ, what stood out to me was that this organization could contribute a lot to my life. One of the most important aspects of my life are academics and getting good grades in a major as challenging as my own. In that respect, INΔ gave me an unmatched professional network amongst our brotherhood. As president of my colony and a future alumnus, I can only hope to give back as much as I received from INΔ.
At first I had a negative perception about Greek Life, but as I learned more about INΔ's national organization and actually got to know the brothers as individuals, I saw a world of opportunity. INΔ has proved to be a powerful outlet for my ambitions and interests. More and more people are realizing what I had--that INΔ transcends the boundaries of a typical fraternity. Whether it is performing at a show, serving the community, taking a cross country trip with brothers, or tutoring kids, there is always something interesting to do. One of the main opportunities I saw was the ability to leave a legacy on my campus that would exist long after I graduated. This is not something that can be done through other student organizations that change membership and direction every year.
Before I joined INΔ, I was a little lost with where I wanted to go in life like many people are in college. Being part of this organization gave me the discipline and direction I needed to figure out what to do going forward. There is a sense of purpose in building an organization that impacts the community in such profound ways with so many ways to explore your passions. What I needed was a challenge and INΔ has helped me take my accomplishments, in and outside the organization, to the next level time after time. Brothers (especially my big brother), put in a lot of time to support my interests and use the experiences they have already had to accelerate my progress.
